Last night the graduating students gave a farewell party at Amba Taipei Ximending, a quite cozy place. All girls and boys were dressed up for they considered it a formal occasion. After the buffet dinner, we teachers sat at the front row to enjoy the show they had prepared. At the end of the show, they asked us to say a few words. Regina Jan, homeroom teacher of class A, was so touched that her students had written a song especially for her that she broke into tears. Then, it’s my turn. I dumped the speech I had prepared because I thought it was something cliché. Instead, I sang 張震嶽’s 再見, a song quite suitable for the moment.
Students then bade farewell to teachers saying that they would come back to the school and visit us. No, you won’t. Past experiences told me that few would ever come. They would move on and have their own life. For that, I say my prayer for them.
I enjoyed the evening very much. For that I thank my students for this well-organized party and I wish them all the best.
