What would you do if you were the owner?

A septuagenarian suffering depression committed suicide by jumping off from his 12th floor apartment in Kaoxiung City. He fell and lay dead on the fourth floor’s canopy of balcony. When asked to let in and remove the body, the owner of the fourth floor refused the police’s request. He said that if he did that his apartment would be considered a crime scene and it would drastically lower its value. The police had no choice but waited for the fire department’s fire truck with crane to lift off the body, which had been laid there for over nine hours.

Some considered the owner was being unsympathetic, but others said it was his right not to let the police in because letting the dead body pass through his living room did affect the realty price.

If I were the owner, I would let the police in for I would think I was helping the dead to leave this world and return to the embrace of Our Lord. For that, the value of my apartment should rise because it has accommodated a kind person.
