Human nature is too fragile to test

Twenty-two. I say again, twenty-two. Twenty-two professors, associate professors, and assistant professors of National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, and National Taiwan Normal University were suspected for frauds. Taipei District Attorney’s Office found that false invoices were used by these scholars to cancel the unused research funds granted to them by National Science Council and other government agencies. Five of them were released on bail by prosecutors after questioning. It is indeed a big deep shame for these highly educated personae to get themselves involved in such scam. I can only conclude that greediness will not stop simply because of degree of education and human nature is very often too vulnerable to test. The integrity of a person is only tested in the face of temptation. I am very sorry these professors fail their test. I wonder what they used to react when they caught students cheating in exams. Isn’t your stealing money as unforgivable as your student’s stealing grades?
